MANILA, Philippines - Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago has raised the white flag.
In her Twitter page, the feisty lady senator said she is inviting boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, his wife Jinkee and mother Dionisia to her wedding anniversary on June 19.
She went on to say: “Pugilistic excellence is not one of my ambitions. I feel affection for Pacman & Aling Dionisia because we are all Visayans.”
Santiago earlier twitted Pacquiao for his interpretation of the Bible in furthering his anti-Reproductive Health (RH) Bill stance. Pacquiao told the public to forget the RH Bill and “go forth and multiply.”
The senator met her match in the boxer’s flamboyant mother, who said: “Huwag ang anak ko ang pakialaman niyo. [Ang pakialaman niyo] 'yung malaswa, 'yung malaswa!” she said.
Mommy Dionisia, as she is called, said her son has a right to express his opposition to the bill. “Para kay Senator Miriam, parang binasura niya ang anak ko… Bakit mababa ang tingin niya sa anak ko? Si Manny, sinusunod lang ang utos ng Diyos.”
